Smart Suggestions Make Your Galaxy Phone Smarter
Smart Suggestions makes your Galaxy phone smarter by recognizing patterns in how you use apps and suggesting actions to streamline your experience. Taking a cue from Apple’s Siri Suggestions, it recognizes applications and actions based on your previous experiences to make recommendations that are uniquely tailored for your usage. This feature has been a part of Samsung One UI for a bit now but it has become much better with the latest 5.0 and 5.1 rollouts.
When you highlight text on a Samsung app, you can copy and translate it, look up a topic in Google Search or call someone from the phone’s contacts. You can also get a list of recommended apps in a widget on your home screen that are optimized for your device. Moreover, if you open an Internet app on a Galaxy device signed in to the same Samsung account, you can see what you were browsing on the other device.
A powerful optical character recognition system is built into more first-party Samsung apps including Gallery, Internet and Samsung Keyboard. It’s especially useful when typing an address or other long text. You can now take a picture of the address with the camera to automatically copy it and paste into other apps or a chat window.
The One UI 5.1 update also enhances your ability to personalize the Android experience with more options for customizations like color themes and widgets. Dynamic themes are now supported for more precise color matching to your wallpaper. Modes and Routines, formerly Bixby Routines, have gained more powerful capabilities with the addition of new trigger intents and system settings customizations. Modes can now set the phone to automatically change several system settings at once, while Routines can rely on “if this then that” triggers to automate activities such as driving or relaxing.
